Continental equips the Zeekr 001 with PremiumContact 6

Chinese auto maker Zeekr will fit Conti tires as original equipment on the Zeekr 001. The electric sedan will run on 22in PremiumContact 6 tires from the factory.

The PremiumContact 6 has been designed for control and high cornering stability at higher speeds, while the grip performance ensures effective power transfer to the road.

A special silica rubber compound is designed for safe driving in all weather conditions, ensuring safety and braking performance on wet and dry roads.

Hankook names new co-CEOs

Hankook has appointed Jongseon Ahn and Sanghoon Lee as executive directors and new co-CEOs. The decision was made following approval at the AGM and board of directors meeting on March 26 at the tire maker’s headquarters in South Korea.

Dual leadership marks a strategic change for Hankook. Jongseon Ahn will lead global innovation, R&D, procurement, production and quality at Hankook. Sanghoon Lee will oversee global sales and spearhead marketing initiatives to strengthen the premium positioning of the company’s unified global brand while also managing the supply of OE tires for new vehicles.

Nokian Tyres’ Oradea factory starts tire deliveries

The first tire deliveries have been made from Nokian Tyres’ new factory in Oradea, Romania. The zero-CO2 emission factory is strategically located close to Central and South European consumers and customers, and will focus on manufacturing passenger car tires sold to these markets.

“The first truck loaded with Oradea-made tires left from the factory taking the tires to our distribution centers and later to our customer and consumers in Central and South Europe,” said Paolo Pompei, president and CEO of Nokian Tyres.

UK scheme to drive recycling of bicycle tubes and tires

A commercial cleaning social enterprise that helps prison leavers in the UK has launched a green initiative to increase recycling of bicycle inner tubes and tires. NGB (No Going Back) Clean launched the initiative – called Ride, Recycle, Repeat – at the London headquarters of LinkedIn on March 12. NGB Clean, based in Kennington, southeast London, has joined forces with waste management firm Velorim, which will coordinate the recycling of the tires and inner tubes at its Staffordshire processing center as part of the UK’s National Bicycle Tire Recycling Scheme, which has over 600 collection sites across the UK.

Additional Vredestein Traxion tires for Claas Arion tractors

Apollo Tyres is expanding its collaboration with agricultural machinery specialist Claas by introducing 14 new sizes of Vredestein Traxion tires for Arion 500 and 600 midrange tractors.

Vredestein tires have long been available for larger Claas tractors, including Axion 800 and 900 models manufactured in Le Mans, France, and the Xerion range produced in Harsewinkel, Germany.

Traxion tires have been engineered to significantly improve tractor performance, helping to maximize productivity and fuel efficiency for reduced operating costs and low total cost of ownership.

New two-wheel tires from Michelin

Michelin has released a pair of new two-wheel tires: the Michelin Power Shift and Michelin Road W GT.

The Power Shift, suitable for maxi-scooters, replaces the Pilot Road 4 SC and Pilot Power 3 SC lines. It is available in three sizes that cover most of the market: 120/70R15 56H (front), 160/60R15 67H (rear) and 120/70R17 58H (front and rear).

Modern maxi-scooters need stable tires to provide better rigidity when leaning and increased stability when cornering, even when accelerating sharply.

Koala Technologies launches Te.Sense Bloom tire deflation testing solution in new markets

A new, non-destructive, rapid tire deflation test system has been launched by Koala Technologies (KTL). Te.Sense Bloom is fully compliant with FMVSS 110 and emerging EV stability test standards, and serves as a reusable tool to help OEMs and tire manufacturers optimize their test programs and reduce waste. The first US specification kit has been delivered to the Transportation Research Center in Ohio for initial evaluations.

Rapid tire deflation tests often involve driving a vehicle over special roadway cleats at defined speeds.
