Building a sustainable tire industry – advances and initiatives - session 1
Michelin believes developing more enhanced end-of-life-tires (ELT) collection and sorting methods is crucial to achieve circularity in tires. The company considers the ELT collection phase critical in ensuring that material quality and consistency of recycled materials from tires can be obtained. Secondary transformation of ELT-derived materials requires high-quality feedstock from primary ELT transformation. Michelin also believes that the digitalization of the different steps throughout the collection and recycling value chains play a crucial role in ensuring material consistency and traceability. As such, Michelin believes that the Digital Product Passport will be a key enabler for this.
- The challenge of achieving material circularity in tires
- The importance of how critical the end-of-life tire collection and sorting phase is in pursuing a circular economy for tires
- How primary ELT transformation output will impact the quality and consistency of secondary ELT Transformation materials from ELTs
- The criticality of traceability and data management accompanying the tire throughout its different phases of life to achieve circular economy
- How CIRPASS 2 and the Digital Product Passport project will facilitate the collection and sorting process of ELTs
