Tire abrasion testing methodologies – technical and regulatory developments

04 Mar 2026
Room 3
Evolving issues from the new Euro 7 standards and TRWP mitigation
The new EU Regulation Euro 7 is introducing new requirements on tire abrasion, the test methods and minimum requirements of which are discussed and set out in UNECE GRBP TFTA (Task Force on Tyre Abrasion). The tire abrasion test methods were adopted at UNECE GRBP in February 2024 and UNECE WP.29 in June 2024. Discussions on the C1 tire abrasion minimum requirements and other open points aim to be finalized in UNECE GRBP February 2026 (to be addressed to UNECE WP29 in June 2026). ETRTO will explain all the technical details.
  • C1 tire abrasion test methods development status
  • C1 tire abrasion minimum requirements
  • Next steps in the C1 tire abrasion activities
Speakers
Nicolas de Mahieu, secretary general - ETRTO (European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation)
