The much-anticipated future of autonomous vehicles is quickly becoming a reality as companies begin to scale their commercial operations. The industry’s vehicle eco-system is very diverse, ranging from bespoke vehicles developed for Robo-taxis to consumer passenger vehicles retrofitted to become autonomous. Developing tire technologies that satisfy both the unique technical needs of autonomous vehicles as well as the classical needs of fleets is a key challenge for the future. Further opportunities arise in the areas of smart vehicle dynamic controls, optimized fleet operations, product circularity and fully connected tires for fully connected fleets. The presentation will explore these opportunities as well as foreseen challenges.
