Test, analysis and mitigation of wear and particle emissions
In the RAMUS research project funded by mFUND by the BMDV, a method combining test bench experiments and numerical simulations is being developed to quantitatively predict tire wear. The presentation shows first results from designing the test procedure, focusing on the systematic creation of test sequences that allow investigation of tire abrasion. It also outlines challenges encountered during implementation and how they were addressed. Particular attention is given to applying the developed methodology on the large inner drum test rig at the Institute of Vehicle Systems Engineering at KIT, demonstrating its potential for practical use in tire wear prediction.
