Talcum is widely used in the rubber industry, serving as a release agent and a filler. However, regulatory pressure on talcum is increasing. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) of the World Health Organization recently reclassified talcum as 'probably carcinogenic to humans' (Category 2A). Due to this classification, talcum will be prominently listed in the Digital Product Passport under the forthcoming requirements of the European Sustainability Product Regulation (ESPR). As a result, within the industry there is growing interest in talc-free products. This presentation provides an update on the current regulatory landscape and introduces talc-free solutions developed by Lanxess.
- Understand current regulatory pressures and reclassification of talc as probably carcinogenic
- Learn why the rubber industry is shifting toward talc-free products
- Discover Lanxess-developed talc-free alternatives and their applications
