The search for sustainable alternatives to fossil-based compounds is advancing. At present, several ‘green’ rubbers, fillers and oils are available. There is rising attention on the final 4-10% of a typical formulation, which consists of processing promoters, antioxidants and the cross-linking system. Lanxess is at the forefront of developing safe and sustainable alternatives for known hazardous additives and for solutions supporting customers by significantly simplifying their production steps such as dosing, mixing and extrusion. This contribution aims to outline recent advances in the development of sustainable additives with the focus on processing promoters.
