Building a sustainable tire industry – advances and initiatives - session 2
A survey of the performance of a wide range of sustainable carbonaceous materials (SCMs – often referred to as rCB) is presented. Nearly 30 SCMs are compared in a basic rubber formulation (D8582) and the variations in key rubber properties are statistically analyzed. The results are then tied back to physicochemical properties of the various SCMs and compared with the results for an ASTM N660-type furnace carbon black. The study highlights the range of in-rubber reinforcement that can be observed from SCMs available on the market and also highlights the importance of quality consistency.
- Key attributes of SCM (rCB) and their effect on application performance
- Importance of quality consistency for application performance
- Steps required to deliver consitent product quality for this type of material
