Reinforcement control in SSBR for next-gen tire performance

Materials, chemicals and related processes – developments and innovations - session 2
Tire performance, particularly rolling resistance and wear, depends strongly on rubber–filler interactions. Key factors include the type of functionalized SSBR, its functionalization density and the selected filler surface area. In addition, the type and amount of resin used to optimize wet grip significantly influence reinforcement. Synthos’ new generation of functionalized SSBR was evaluated in combination with silica of varying surface areas and resins. This approach enabled an optimized balance of lower rolling resistance, excellent wet grip, superior wear resistance and outstanding processability – supporting the development of next-generation high-performance tires.
