Building a sustainable tire industry – advances and initiatives - session 3
BASF pursues green transformation and aims to be the preferred chemical company for sustainable solutions. The presentation describes BASF's research regarding cleaning recovered carbon black (rCB) to 95% from different suppliers. The focus is on an innovative, sustainable cleaning method that enables a high purity of rCB and supports its use in high-quality applications such as rubber and coatings. Typical rubber samples applying purified rCB have been produced and tested at DIK in Hannover. N660 is the reference for benchmarking. Trend colors by BASF Coatings have been developed to show a variety of effects based on the sustainable pigment.
- Method overview for the purification of rCB and how they perform in general
- Successful purification method in the liquid phase, including demonstration of purifying effect by graphs over time
- Production and testing of purified rCB in rubber samples substituting N660
- What does an OEM coating using rCBs look like in three trend colors?
