Developing eco-friendly silica is essential for sustainable tire manufacturing due to silica’s critical role in green tire tread. This presentation will introduce a novel carbonation strategy for high-performance silica preparation that effectively helps to reduce the carbon footprint. This method is based on CO₂ reuse instead of traditional sulfuric acid, making it a negative emissions technology. Each ton of silica derived from rice husk ash via this method reduces CO₂ emissions by 60%. Moreover, precipitated silica by carbonation exhibits improved dispersion, endowing the tire with excellent performance. This approach offers a more sustainable reinforcing filler solution.
- A novel carbonation preparation strategy for high-performance silica to reduce the carbon footprint
- The new precipitation method utilizes CO₂ reuse instead of conventional hazardous sulfuric acid
- Combining rice husk ash utilization with the novel method reduces CO₂ emissions by 60%
- The carbonation strategy gives biowaste silica high dispersibility and a wide BET adjusting range
- Precipitated silica by carbonation exhibits good application potential in green tire treads
