The tire industry is changing as exports from lower-cost countries place considerable pressure on tire manufacturers. This has led to a number of plant closures. With tariffs being introduced in the US, the EU launching an anti-dumping investigation against Chinese LV tire imports and other countries also introducing anti-dumping measures (Mexico, South Africa, Brazil, etc), the paper will consider where the industry goes from here, examining trends in: vehicle sales and production; vehicle parc (vehicles in use); replacement tire sales; and tire trade and production.
