Building a sustainable tire industry – advances and initiatives - session 3
It is hard but vital for tire formulation to balance the outstanding mechanical properties of polysulfide bonds and good aging resistance of disulfide/monosulfide bonds in networks. This presentation introduces a strategy optimizing the sulfur-vulcanized network by formulation modification and using a novel vulcanizator. Results demonstrate that this strategy could form a more homogeneous network, simultaneously imparting mobility and stability. Consequently, the rubber vulcanizates exhibit improved mechanical performance, abrasion resistance and aging resistance due to this unique structure, enhancing tire durability. This approach provides a new insight into improving tire durability toward the green development of the tire industry.
