Advanced modeling, simulation, analysis, test and development - session 2
This research investigates the efficacy of a virtual tire development and tuning methodology employing a high-fidelity driving simulator (VI-DiM250) in conjunction with CDTire/3D and real-time simulation capabilities. 10 virtual tire candidates were generated from a base CDTire model and subjected to iterative evaluations on a compact simulator followed by the driving simulator. This approach enabled the selection of optimal tire characteristics, significantly accelerating the tire development process by minimizing the need for physical prototypes. The findings demonstrate the substantial potential of this methodology in enhancing tire ride and handling performance, reducing development costs and accelerating time-to-market for tire manufactures.
- Advanced virtual tire development methdology
- Use of advanced technology like driver-in-the-loop simulators in the tire development workflow for OEMs and tire manufacturers
- Use of physical tire models like CDTire in virtual tire development
- Combination of physical tire model and driving simulators for accurate handling and ride comfort subjective evaluations
