Three decades of recovered carbon black – what has changed?
03 Mar 2026
Room 1
Building a sustainable tire industry – advances and initiatives - session 1
Recovered carbon black has unlocked the business viability for chemical tire recycling. It now has its own ASTM D36 committee and major tire producers including Michelin and Bridgestone are using it and lobbying for it. While major production facilities in and outside of Europe are being built (and being commissioned by the time of the presentation), some important challenges are still unresolved, including EoW, rCB specifications and accessibility of ELT feedstocks. What is the state of the industry now and where will it go in the next 5-10 years? Which synergies exist with other circular and renewable materials?
