Tsunoda is a materials scientist specializing in fracture mechanics of elastomers. He joined Bridgestone Corporation in Japan in 1991 and started his carrier in material development for non-tire rubber products, like rubber trucks, conveyor belts and automotive hoses. From 1998 he studied fracture mechanics of rubber at Queen Mary University of London under the direct supervision of Prof. Alan Thomas and completed his PhD in 2001. He is now a research expert in the sustainable and advanced materials division.
