Burkhard Wies

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Burkhard Wies recently founded ITEC (Institute for Technical Engineering & Consulting), serving the automotive industry with innovative technical solutions. Previously, he served as a senior executive with the PLT division of Continental AG for more than 33 years in various roles in R&D. As VP of tire line development worldwide for 22 years and as VP for innovation and applied research for three years, he led a worldwide team of scientists. He received his PhD in mechanical engineering from the Technical University RWTH Aachen in 1992. Since 2006, Prof. Wies has lectured on the technology and sustainability of tires at the University of Hannover. He has held an honorary professorship since 2015.
