Dr Sarat Ghosh is Vice President R&D in Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd and CTO in Birla Tyres (DBRL). He has 32 years of experience and worked in JK Tyre, PCBL, Apollo Tyres, Kesoram Industries and Birla Tyres. He has vast experience in Tire Technology such as Compound, Design, Simulation & Process and also in Product development of TBR, PCR, OHT & OTR Tire. He completed his graduation from University of Calcutta, Master from IIT-Kharagpur, PhD from “The MS University, Baroda” and Advanced Management Program from IIM-Bangalore. He has published papers in Rubber Chemistry and Technology and Tire Science and Technology

Optimization of Passenger EV Tire performance by connecting three dots: Tire Construction, Tread-Pattern & Compounds. The major challenges are high instant torque, higher weight and longer breaking distance. Unique requirements: Stronger-Carcass, Higher-Durability, Low-RR, Reduced-Noise and High-Grip. Reinforced shoulder, multi-layer carcass and stiffer Sidewall-Region provides higher Structural-Strength. High-Grip & Improved-Aquaplaning, Reduced-Noise and Lower-RR achieved by Asymmetric Directional Tread-Pattern, Variable Pitch with special Sipes and Larger-Footprint with uniform pressure distribution respectively Blends of Natural Rubber Carbon Black and Silica-Silane compounds together with resin system provides robust, durable, low RR and high grip tread. Resin-reinforced Carbon-silica sidewall and apex compounds provides higher Stiffness.
