Presentation

A framework for analytical decomposition of subjective attributes

A superior product can be developed by better understanding the requirements of the customer. As an example, take the attribute of the “steering feel” when assessing tyres. A customer may be able to discern good or poor performance but not the describe specifics. Decomposing this into its constituent factors allows the attribute to be understood and controlled. The framework employs a mixed methods survey, analysed through techniques such as bivariate correlation and multiple regression. The outcome takes an attribute that could only be assessed in the physical vehicle and enables this to be designed-in prior to the first prototype.
