Presentation

Characterization of tire road wear particles generated on asphalt pavement

This presentation covers the methodology to analyze tire and road wear particles (TRWPs) generated on asphalt pavement and show the effect of road conditions on TRWPs. Density separation and TGA were performed on TRWPs obtained at different temperatures and road roughness levels in order to investigate the ratio of components originating from rubber and road. Particle size distribution was calculated based on optical microscope observation and discussed in terms of road conditions. This research highlights the necessity of addressing both the tire and road surface aspects to tackle the TRWPs issue.
