Tire Technology Expo 2017 Exhibitor Interviews


Florian Mattheis, tire team leader at Intralox LLC Europe in the Netherlands, talks us through the products being showcased on the company’s stand, including the activated roller belt technology, zero tangent radius belt and an innovative virtual reality simulator that allows clients to experience new installations in advance of completion.

Bartell Machinery Systems

Mike Hovey, sales engineer at Bartell Machinery Systems in the USA, launches two new products at the show: BeadView, a non-contact bead inspection system, said to be the world’s first such measurement tool and nominated for a Tire Technology of the Year award, and The Bartell Automatic Truck Apexing System, which brings automation to the bead/apex process for truck tire beads.

HF Group

Prof. Dr Andreas Limper, a member of the board of management at HF Mixing Group in Germany, talks about the company’s wealth of experience in providing the tire industry with innovative solutions for mixing, extrusion, tire building and curing press segments for passenger cars and truck tires.

Schill + Seilacher

Colin Clarke, technical director at Schill + Seilacher, based in Germany, talks about the company’s range of market-leading, advanced silica dispersing additives, homogenisers, plasticisers and cure activating chemicals, which enable clients to maximise production efficiency.

VMI Group

Harm Voortman, CEO of the VMI Group in the Netherlands, updates us on the company’s latest product developments including VMI PIXXEL, a single, integrated platform containing its own logical and processing capabilities. It can interface and integrate with all systems around it, thus bringing Industry 4.0 to reality.


Sacha Nagel, international project and account coordinator for SEW-Eurodrive based in Germany, introduces the company’s latest product, the ECDriveS powered roller conveyor with 24V gear motor, 250% overload capacity, high continuous power and long service life from a single modular system.

SLM Solutions

Ralf Frohwerk, global head of business development for SLM Solutions in Germany, the leading provider of metal-based additive manufacturing technology, introduces the company’s latest 280 2.0 Selective Laser Melting machine, utilised for the production of whole tire mould segments for tire treads.


Augustin Niavas, business development manager at EOS in Germany, a leader in 3D printing of metals and polymers, comments on the company and how it is looking to bring its expertise to the tire industry specifically in the field of precision manufacturing of sipes and complete tire moulds.

Zeppelin Systems

Guido Veit, business unit manager plastics and rubber plants at Zeppelin Systems in Germany, introduces a number of innovations at the show, including re-engineered conveying technology with increased capabilities and reduced costs, newly designed silos and fully automatic small components systems as well as a new liquid dosing system.

Bogimac Material Fatigue Test Equipment

Philippe Van Bogaert, CEO of Bogimac Material Fatigue Test Equipmentin Belgium, discusses the company, which provides world-class equipment for the dynamic testing of flexible materials such as steel-textile cord, fabric and tape for tire and rubber reinforcement.

Mehler Engineered Products

Manfred Heine, key account manager at Mehler Engineered Products in Germany, discusses the company, which is a specialist in the production of treated yarns and fabrics for a number of industries including the tire industry, and has a constantly growing product portfolio developed in close collaboration with customers and suppliers.

Münch Chemie International

Dr Susanne Deuerlein, public relations manager at Münch Chemie International in Germany, discusses the company, which is a renowned specialist for the supply and manufacture of release agents and processing aids. She also talks about the company’s latest water-based permanent mould release coating, MK-1629.

Ferm RFID Solutions

Marc Flederus, owner of Ferm RFID Solutions in the Netherlands, a specialist in realising RFID tag solutions for a variety of solutions and customers, introduces the smart tire label, an RFID label developed in partnership with Avery Dennison and specifically targeted at the tire industry. He also comments on his company’s permanent tire RFID tags that enable the full track-and-traceability of a tire’s lifecycle.

Comerio Ercole

Riccardo Comerio, managing director of Comerio Ercole based in Italy, talks about the company’s latest developments including several new innovative technologies including an all new 360 VR solution to help provide customers optimise their processes in advance of mechanical assembly.
